Meet the Cohorts

The Jakarta Cohort is comprised of 20 individuals primed to be the next influencers of their city. Through the Jakarta Cohort, we are providing in-depth training and discipleship to these 20 individuals, as we seek to shape the hands that will shape their country. As they complete the program and step into their roles as the next business leaders, social entrepreneurs, government leaders and ministry leaders, our aim is that they would leave this training thinking through a biblical grid and using their giftings and positions to impact their city for Christ.

Meet Julia

Business Development and CST Director, PT Masa

Julia grew up as a third-cultured kid in Jakarta, Vancouver and Singapore with mostly Buddhist upbringing. While studying at the University of Michigan, Julia was poised to build her resume and become a designer in New York City. However, her life changed drastically when Julia came to know the Lord her freshman year through a local church. Following a year working in New York, Julia returned to Indonesia to help run her father’s company, with a heart for the poor and a question that God had given her several years prior: “What are you doing with your life to change the circumstances of those around you?”

Through Resource Global, Julia is now being mentored in faith and work in hopes of using her position and influence to impact her workplace. Additionally, Julia is leveraging her training in the maritime industry to drive a floating hospital initiative through a local non-profit called doctorSHARE, bringing health services to the remote islands in Indonesia.  Resource Global is providing Julia with additional mentoring and training in social entrepreneurship to cultivate the potential of doctorSHARE and maximize her impact.

Meet Jonathan

VP of Corporate Strategy, GoJek

Jonathan attended our ICON Conference in 2016, where he was trained to apply his faith to his work. Jonathan has a finance degree from the University of Illinois, and is using his degree as a investment professional at Northstar in Jakarta. Jonathan is applying what he learned at ICON, and is setting up specific practices for himself and his peers to encourage a God-honoring relationship with their demanding careers.

He says: “I am learning to separate myself from my achievement at work by thanking God and reminding myself that everything was given and lent to me, to build my home around Him, and not what’s around me, and reminding myself that I can only find my peace through Christ.” Additionally, Jonathan shares, “I am passionate about my work, and hope to leverage my business resources and network to make a positive social impact. I am currently exploring opportunities in social impact investing with the support of our firm.” Jonathan is taking part in the Jakarta Cohort.
